From the Daily News:
K-Rock Guy Awaits Fate
Crazy Cabbie was ready for sentencing yesterday, but his lawyer wasn't. The K-Rock deejay was supposed to find out his punishment for failing to file federal tax returns. But the proceeding was postponed because his lawyer failed to answer new government allegations that Cabbie deliberately understated his earnings by $140,000.
Cabbie, whose real name is Lee Mroszak, could face additional prison time if he deliberately tried to scam the Internal Revenue Service a second time. He was busted last year after boasting on the Howard Stern radio show about not paying his taxes.
Brooklyn Federal Judge John Gleeson was unmoved by lawyer Allan Passin's excuse that he did not address the earnings issue or several others raised in a pre-sentencing report because he was preoccupied with a sick relative.
"I'm fearful he [Mroszak] hasn't gotten the representation that he should have," Gleeson said.
In a letter, WXRK-FM general manager Tom Chiusano urged the judge not to jail Mroszak, who faces at least 15 months behind bars.
